Big Bang post

Personally, I think that the concepts of stargazing explained by the book has a sort of relation with the plot of the book itself. I believe that when Sophie realizes that she is not part of the real world, and is a fantasy of a subreal world, she thinks that by doing an action in her fantastic world she may alter the real world. The very best example is what she did with the boat, actually it happened in the real world and Hilde and her father noticed something happened. This can be related with stargazing, because it can be consider a time of travel just that instead of traveling years through the universe, Sophie tries to travel from her unreal world to the real world of Hilde. In that way, Sophie traveled from her world to Hilde's real world, but not in prescence but may be in spirit or something subreal.

I can relate this with a mirror. Maybe Sophie and Alberto where at the other side of the mirror but Hilde and his father were at the front of the mirror. The actual real world is what is seen when you look up in the front of a mirror, and Sophie tried to shape that mirror so that in the actual real world, something in there would change, like if someone at the other side of the mirror makes a colored circle and then appears in the front side of the mirror, not knowing who draw it, as the example of the boat in the book.

Marx

1. The way economic life of the community was organized and its material, economic and social relations.

Society's conditions of production: the natural conditions and resources are available to society.

In the country of El Salvador, the production of coffee is very useful and produtive since this is a tropical country and benefits the production of coffee and helps to the economic development of it.

http://www.mudbaycoffeeco.com/store/product.php?productid=4

Means of production: the various kinds of equipment, tools and machinery, as well as the raw materials to be found there.

This oil rig is a good example of means of production since it helps nations to find oil in order to have more economic weatlh and growth.

http://www.pbase.com/image/50026687

Mode of production: what determines which political and ideological conditions that are to be found in society.

This picture represents the venezuelan flag with the communist ideology printed on the flag. This symbolizes that the venezuelan govenment has a communist ideology and totally affects the way of living of the country. the country by being communist, has an equality of economic wealth among the different social classes, so it marks a way or political condition in the country.

4. Marx's Basis of Society can be connected with the area of knowledge of natural and human sciences. Natural Sciences because it relates with the society's conditions of production, because it refers to the natural resources and geographic advantages, and Natural Sciences deals with all nature aspects. And Human Sciences relates with the mode of production because it refers to the ideology of a nation and characteristics of a way of governing, and Human Sciences has to deal with politics.

Descartes

1. I do agree with Descartes stance because it is correct to say that true knoledge can not be achieved without first dividing and breaking down in very small pieces a bigger subject and concluding about it, and until we dont fulfill that process, we can not give something for sure and certain.

2. This personal opinion can be related with the mathematics and history because for mathematics, students have to break down many algebraic and compunded formulas in order to understand the real significance and meaning of an equation and its solution. And for history, in order for students to understand the historyof why things happened, they fisrt have to analyze and see the different motives and reasons for something that lead to a significance change in history in order to get it thouroughly.

3. Mathematics
This is an example of an algebraic problem where you must solved for "x". This image specifies how you have to make use of a formula known before and start breaking down the problem in order to get the answer for "x", which is 58 and be sure that it is correct because it has been proven that it works the way you passed the number 18 to the other side in order to leave "x" alone and find the correct answer.

History

This is an image of the twin towers on fire. This a significant event that marked the life on earth because from that day on, the world was not the same. This example of history relates with my opinion because in order to understand why this could happen, we first have to break down all possible factors that lead this catastrophe to happen and it was that along the year, the United States had been oppressing and invading middle east countries in the search for petroleum which caused many conflicts between the middle east people and lead to a sort of revenge.

ARISTOTLE

ETHICS

- The philosophy "ethics" by Aristotle is totally related to the area of knowledge Ethics because they share the same definition and use, with the philosophy Aristotle tried to give the idea that it all depended on how people interacted and live life in order to live a good life. And that all depended in human relationships, where he advocated the "Golden Mean" which means that there must be a balance among the different relations and aspects of human life.

- The connection it has with a global issue is with national and international security among countries. If there is no effective and reasonable balance of relations and wealth between the higher class and the lower class in a country, there would be a national insecurity in all the country because the lower class would be in need of money and needs in order to survive, which would lead to crime and violence. One personal experience is in Honduras, the corruption among the government and high class permit an imbalance with the lower class, fulfilling acts of crime as hijacking for example, in order to obtain money.

Arts post

The intention of this picture is to try to give the idea to the audience to think that Angelina Jolie is protraying a second meaning to the adoption of children. In this picture, the artist is trying to demonstrate that Angelina Jolie is in a sort of way being seen as a goddes or a woman with divine power, as a savior, because of adopting many children around the world. The picture is actually pretty effective because it tend to make doubt people about the real intention of Angelina Jolie in the adoption of kids.
When talking about imitation, communication and education criteria, it is a very useful source since it does not imitate any other kind of art cause is a celebrity figure the one that is portrayed and it does communicate a message to the audience; to let them know that maybe Angelina Jolie is actually being seen as a savior, or maybe not, depending on the audience criteria, and in a certain way it teach people a lesson that adopting kids in a certain way is good cause it gives oportunities to children but it may be seen indifferent for the figure of Angelina Jolie cause she abuses in too many adoptions.

2. The research done to reach the desired outomce was completed by performing many different kinds of experiment with children, each of them with different adults model behaviors.
3. The outcome was that, effectively, children tend to follow and behave according to an adult model behavior and it tell about humans that we can condition in some sort of way the behavior of people, in this case children.

Ethics post

HOMOSEXUALITY
1.Homosexuals are extremely discriminated and excluded from societies in countries of Central and South America.

2. In some part of the U.S. and Canada, homosexuality is legal and some of the member of societies accept them.

3. In europe, the majority of the countries accept homosexuality and it have legal marriages.

- Personally,I do believe that homosexuality should be illegal and is not good because first of all prevents the basic law of human reproduction and also that by the law of God it is totally forbidden.

Historical Analysis Post

Origin: cartoon, maybe from part of the united states, humour.
Purpose: to show the power that the US had, to show
the Monroe Doctrine policy as a tool to the US
Value: this cartoon is important because it gives the idea of the US of controlling countries by apparently having the means of doing it.
Limitation: biased, one point of view, humouristic

Monkey Drug Trials

The experiment was conducted in 1969 and it was meant to test that animals such as monkeys and rats would look for the injection by themselves of drugs such as morphine, alcohol, codeine, cocaine, and amphetamines, after being trained to do so. The experiment concluded that the animalswent crazy and some of them died.
It is very unethical because no one should treat animals in such a horrendous way and also that this experiment could be tested in another more ethical ways.

Perception

"Doubt is the key to knowledge”. To what extent is this true in Perception?

1.This Persian Proverb is in some way true when talking about perception. When we know something, we sometimes start doubting if it is true or not, we must have enough arguments and evidence in order to believe it, there is when perception comes into play. With our perception, we decide whether what we are arguing or acknowledging is completely true, how we associate the subject to our mind and then taking out our doubts according to that subject.

2. A cultural example could be in El Salvador. People there use to eat their national meal (Pupusas) with the hands. What happen if a foreigner comes into a restaurant and eats Pupusas with fork and knife; we would be seen differently. That person would start doubting about if what he is doing is correct or not, and when he ask someone from that country we would now know about that cultural custom.

3. One example from school can be in math class. If I didn't understand a problem the teacher was explaining it can be because maybe I was not mentally prepared to it. So I will start questioning myself how can I do that problem. Then is when I will finally ask the teacher to teach me one more time in order to know how to solve the problem.

4. In my personal life, one example could be when I'm driving my car and the traffic lights are not functioning. Another car may just continue his way, not stopping for caution and at the end nothing happen to him, I may start doubting whether just continue driving not stopping to see if other car is approching. There is where my doubt would teach me later that what the other car did was wrong, because that would be reckless driving.

Emotions

Happiness

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yv_OZmMn2E
This video makes me feel very happy because its my favorite team (FC Barcelona) celebrating the league title in its stadium. Watching the players dancing, singing, the fireworks, and the cup in their hands make me feel extremely hap[y.

Sadness

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41izUzo25u4
This video makes me feel very sad because one of my favorite animals, the tiger, is being mistreated. In general, there is a group of tigers that are chained and not treated as they are supposed to be. The tiger being focused on is being forced to move and grabbed with very rough ways. This makes me feel very bad, abusing animals, in this case the tigers.

Fear

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW-TkpvKPl0
This video makes me feel really nervous and scary. Since I have lived an earthquake and now how scary and terrifying it could be, and the video shown transmit to me a felling of fear because of all the people running and shouting and watching all the things moving. It is really scary for me.

TOK IB Assessment Blog

Topic: Discuss the role of language and reason in history

Support 1:

http://www.gmixer.com/uploaded_images/Language_Barrier_by_lynxie06-756677.jpg

In this abstract image a human is expelling through his mouth a series of visual figures. The interpretation that I have in relation with language and reason with history is that every person has a different perspective of the world and with the language you can transmit feelings and thoughts to society, and later on that society may interpretate it the way they perceive it. There is when history and the reason of society comes into play by acknowledging the ideas of someone through communication, in this case language. In the image, that person is giving ideas and thoughts in the different kind of geometric shapes that may be the language of that person, and then this type of language is transmitted to someone who would have to think and reason what this person is trying to say, and at the end they would have created a short story of what they thought, creating the basic form of history.

Support 2:
The best example of the role of language and reason in history is the interpretation of the mayan language by humans. The mayan civilization had a cultural language that only they could understand. When they no longer existed, the modern humans discovered all this mayan hieroglyphic language and through reason they made a big discovery of the history of mayan civilization. So the mayan language was interpretated and analyzed by humans in order to have knwoledge of the mayan's history.

Historical Reasoning

The genocide is another historical event that was marked by an insignificant reason. Two extrimist armed groups were killing innocent people just by the fact that they were not part from his group. Both killed each other meaningless, just because they were opposing groups. At the end this caused international intervention cause this really wasn't necessary. The picture reveals an african group guarding hundreds of african skulls from the people killed.

These are some of the millions of jews that were ostracized and persecuted during the reign of Hitler. They were put into concentration camps where they starved to death of were burned aive. Hitler thought that the jews were an inferior race and also that they should all be exectued so that the world become a better place. This caused many countries to declare war against the nazis. This was an insignificant reason by the nazis to kill all jews they could find, just by thinking they were superior.

Another important historical reasoning that caused a big impact was in El Salvador. During the civil war from 1981 to 1992, armed groups from the FMLN (political party) started coming against the government. In the picture, two armed men shooting against soldiers from the government. The so called "guerrilla", thought that by having armed power and putting themselves in government was going to be the only and unique way of having equal rights and democracy, but this was just an act of desesperation and caused the entire country to stop its develpment for all those years. At the end, the past year the FMLN came into power in a solid and fari democratic presidential elections.

5 important pictures

This is my family. From left to right; me, my dad, my sister, my mom and my brother. They are the most important thing in my life and I love them every single day. In this ocassion, we were celebrating my mom's birthday at our house in El Salvador.

This is another important picture. In the picture; my brother, me and Eduardo. This was a very important moment in my life because my family and me went on a mission to the Centro Juvenil Maria Teresa de Calcuta, to help in the building of new houses for kids with no a house. In this case, we were painting the new houses built.

This is my little dog "chispita". She is an awsome dog, for me the best dog I could really have. Right now she is four years old and she is treated like a princess at my house. We bought her just 2 months before we were coming to live in Honduras, she was just 2 months old when we bought her and was very litttle.

This picture represents one of the most exciting and happy days of my life. The scoreboard shows a contundent victory of Barcelona against Real Madrid, and we have to mentioned that the game was played at Real Madrid's house. So it was a really embarrassed defeat for Real Madrid, which I really enjoyed.

This is also a very important picture in my life because it shows one of the many consequences that the earthquake of 2001 had on El Salvador. In the picture, a big amount of land collapsed, destroying many houses that had families inside. There was an estimated 2000 mortal victims in this catastrophic event. That earthquake in 2001 really changed my life because I lived it and experienced it.
